National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) in Moscow

The jury of the international competition – organized by the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design – for the new National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) in Moscow has announced its selection of the proposal presented by the Dublin office of Róisín Heneghan and Shih-Fu Peng, who in the final phase have carried the day over the Madrid firm of Nieto & Sobejano and the Moscow firm Mel. Part of a plan to reactivate the area around Khody Khodynskoe Pole, an old airfield northwest of the Russian capital, the winning design presents a building consisting of stacked and cantilevering blocks that will house exhibitions, research facilities, classrooms, and a cafeteria.
